Testimonials

“We just had Edward Construction do a complete remodel all the way down to the studs on an old house in the South Side. The work was completed on time and looks great! Edward took care of all the permitting and code needs. Edward was available to meet and talk any time about any issues or changes that came up with this old place. He gave us honest estimates and stuck to them. I highly recommend Edward Construction for your remodeling needs. Thanks Edward.”

“We used Edward twice in 2012. Once to convert an old kitchen into a laundry room/mud room & bathroom. And another time to finish off part of our basement. We had an excellent experience working with Edward both times. He came to work when he said he would, always told us the work he planned to accomplish that day, and completed the job in a timely manner. Communication with Edward was great and his price was fair. We plan on using him for future projects.” “Kitchen, bathroom, deck, wood floors, dining room. All projects were done with excellent care and craftsmanship and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Takes the time to do things right and provides great communication throughout the whole process. We get compliments on our house all the time now and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Edward Construction to friends, family and neighbors. Very fair on pricing and willing to work with us on unique building materials.”

How to Save Money off of a Pittsburgh Bathroom Renovation

If you are looking for a bathroom, kitchen, basement, or any other type of home improvement project  renovation,  you’re likely to hire a contractor within the Pittsburgh area. Whenever you get quotes from different contractors, compare on an apples to apples basis. In other words, differentiate each contractor on the basis of their experience, quality, gut feel, and hourly rate, rather than the building materials that they use.Pittsburgh contractors may come from different neighborhoods: Greenfield, Oakland, East Liberty, Squirrel Hill, Lawrenceville, etc.  But they all get their building supplies from the same Home Depot or Lowe’s that you yourself go to.

Some people in the Pittsburgh area assume that the contractor has a pre-determined list of materials that is untouchable. Fact is, the choice is up to you. Give your contractor a list of the things you want in your bathroom renovation so that they can go to the Waterfront Lowe’s, or the East Liberty Home Depot, and get it themselves.

Here are some ways you can save on building materials and add as much value to your renovation…

Choose a humble vanity. In fact, if you go on eBay, you’ll find plenty of contemporary looking vanities that will add some flair and style for less than half the price of a vanity that you can get at Lowe’s or Home Depot in Pittsburgh. Simply buy the vanity yourself and have the Pittsburgh contractor or plumber your hired, install it.

Get durable, but not expensive, floor tiles. Your floor doesn’t have to have granite tiles with fancy looking designs. However, at all costs, do not put anything that resembles a rug or a carpet in your bathroom. You’ll get a moldy/smelly bathroom, which none of your Pittsburgh house guests would appreciate.

Use painted walls rather than expensive tile. A bathroom, which has a well thought out color scheme can work just as well, if not better, than a bathroom that is completely tiled up.
